The Magical Shades of Grey Wedding of Nicole & Rigardt. At Vivacious Wedding Blog we love grey, it’s such a neutral colour that works so well with various shades of other colours. We love the story of this couple, from a Greece proposal to their gorgeous wedding day. This amazing couple, also known as Nix & Rigz, describe their wedding day as magical and one of the most surreal days of their lives. The talented wedding photographer, GDG Photography captured their special memories in stills for them to relive in the future.
Their wedding colours and decor was inspired by Weylandts, their favourite furniture brand. And we are huge fans of Weylandts in South-Africa as well. Every detail of the decor and general style of their wedding is picture-perfect. From the couple’s outfits to the brides beautiful orchid bouquet and the decor designs. Picturesque – we love it.
Rigardt and Nicole went to the unbelievably beautiful Maldives and Dubai for their honeymoon. This is any married couples dream honeymoon destinations. Relax next to the crystal clear waters in the Maldives, sipping up cocktails. Shop till you drop in Dubai and enjoy the luxury this city has to offer! So, if you love this intro, then you should definitely scroll down to get inspiration for your wedding day.
The story behind the wedding dress:
My wedding dress was from Vonve – I knew I wanted my dress from there before Rigardt even put a ring on it 😊 I took my best friends and mom to my first viewing and after trying on many dresses, their faces said it all when I finally tried on THE dress!
We were on a Greek island called Zakynthos where we were visiting the famous “Shipwreck Beach”. I (Rigardt) arranged a surprise photographer to capture the moment. I got the thumbs up from the photographer that he was ready for action and I went down on one knee. She said YES!!!!
Advice to other couples planning their wedding:
Have fun! It is easy to stress and worry that something may go wrong, or a detail is out of place. Leave it up to the people helping you set up on the day (they got this!) and rather soak up every moment, take LOTS of photos with your loved ones and friends, and be present. They don’t lie when they say the day just flies by!
We loved that it was so modern! The theme we had in mind for our wedding went amazingly with this venue and the open glass design was picture perfect. Nicole actually fell in love with the venue before it was even built – thank you Instagram!
Wedding Colours and Decor:
Greys, black and a hint of mauve and rose gold. Both of us love the modern, clean look and feel of darker tones – we are not the ‘overly colourful’ type😊 We drew our inspiration from our favourite furniture brand, Weylandts. So we asked Zavion to mimic the Weylandts look by including different shapes, textures and designs in the venue.
The Wedding Cake:
We wanted simple, elegant yet a little unconventional. Instead of a traditional tiered cake, we selected 3 separate ombre style cakes (butter icing!), sitting of three different level stands.
We had a variety of music at our wedding – some pop, some classic, and even some live music by a very talented man named Costa (he played guitar & bouzouki). Our first dance song was called, “Don’t Give Up on Me” by Andy Grammer & R3HAB. We loved that it was not the ‘typical, traditional’ wedding dance song, but rather one that represented our love, our story and our personalities.
Favourite Wedding Memory:
The passion in the Greek dancing and breaking of plates! At one stage, almost every guest was on the dance floor – it was unreal! We didn’t want the night to end.
